What is Stage Fright?
Stage Fright is a two-player cooperative puzzle adventure developed by Ghost Town Games, the independent studio that created Overcooked, and published by Hello Games. It blends the chaotic teamwork of Overcooked with escape-room style puzzle solving.
Designed for Two
Online or couch co-op for exactly two players, where talking to your partner matters more than quick reflexes.
Parallel Dimensions
Each player sees a different version of the same town, so the missing piece is always in your partner's world.
Escape-Room Puzzles
Locks, symbols, clues and timed sequences built for two people who have to reason out loud together.
Coming-of-Age Mystery
Three friends, one strange town and an ancient secret told from two perspectives at once.
Two players explore a mysterious town as three friends, Drew, Blake and Charlie, switching between pairs as the story unfolds. The players are separated across parallel dimensions, so progress depends on communication and mental agility rather than fast reflexes. The game is scheduled to release in 2027 on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

Release & Platforms
Where Stage Fright is officially heading. The studio is targeting 2027, and dates for unreleased games can always move, so treat this as the current plan.
The Three Friends
Stage Fright follows a trio of kids and rotates which pair you control, so every chapter is seen from two sides at once.
Drew
One of the three young leads players control across the adventure, and part of the rotating pairs that shape how each chapter is told.
Blake
A second member of the trio. Which two friends you control changes as the story moves, revealing different sides of the town mystery.
Charlie
The third member of the group caught up in the strange town. The game pairs the friends differently to tell its coming-of-age story.
Co-op Modes at a Glance
Stage Fright is built for exactly two players. Here is what is confirmed about each way to play, and what is still open.
Puzzle Types You Will Meet
Every Stage Fright puzzle is a conversation between two people who can see different things. These are the main challenge types shown so far.
Escape Rooms
Multi-step rooms where each player holds half the information. Solving them means combining what both of you can see into one plan.
Lock & Symbol Puzzles
Combination locks and symbol riddles that are usually opened with a clue found in your partner's dimension rather than your own.
Timed Action
Sequences with a time limit that test coordination as much as logic, where a clear instruction beats a fast reaction.
Clue Hunting
Notes, markings and objects hidden around each location. Finding them is a shared job, because neither player can see the whole room.
Stage Fright FAQ
What is Stage Fright?+
Stage Fright is a two-player cooperative puzzle adventure from Ghost Town Games, the studio behind Overcooked, published by Hello Games. Two players explore a strange town as three friends, Drew, Blake and Charlie, but they are split across parallel dimensions and see different versions of every location. Progress depends on talking to each other, describing what only you can see and solving escape-room style puzzles together. It is aimed at players who like thinking and communication more than fast reflexes.
When does Stage Fright come out?+
The official store page still lists the release date as to be announced, while a studio update and the September 2026 Nintendo Direct point to a 2027 launch, with the developers targeting Spring 2027. Unreleased games can always slip, so we treat 2027 as the current plan rather than a promise. The Steam page is live now and can be wishlisted, which is the best way to get a notification the moment a firm date is confirmed.
What platforms is Stage Fright on?+
Stage Fright is confirmed for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo versions were revealed during the September 2026 Nintendo Direct. There has been no official announcement for PlayStation, Xbox or Epic Games Store releases, so any such listing should be treated as unconfirmed until the developers or publisher say otherwise. All announced versions support two-player co-op.
Does Stage Fright have crossplay?+
Cross-platform play has not been confirmed. It is one of the most common questions in the Steam community discussions, because players want to team up across PC and Nintendo Switch, but the developers have not publicly committed to it. Until an official statement appears, the safe assumption is that you and your partner should plan to play on the same platform family. We will update this page as soon as crossplay is addressed.
Can you play Stage Fright solo?+
Stage Fright is designed around exactly two players, online or locally, and solo play is not the intended experience. Almost every puzzle relies on two people seeing different versions of a location, so a single player would not be able to gather the clues the design expects. If you want to prepare alone, reading our beginner and puzzle guides is the best way to get ready for a session with a friend.
How many players does Stage Fright support?+
The game supports two players. It is not a larger party game and it is not a solo adventure, so you and one partner are the whole team. Both online co-op and local couch or split-screen co-op are part of the design, with the developers describing local play as the ideal way to experience it. Extra friends can watch, but they cannot join the puzzle solving.
Who is making Stage Fright?+
Stage Fright is developed by Ghost Town Games, the independent British studio behind Overcooked and Overcooked 2, and published by Hello Games, the team behind No Man's Sky. The project was revealed at The Game Awards in December 2024, with the first gameplay shown in September 2026. The studio has said the game keeps the chaotic cooperation of Overcooked while shifting the challenge toward communication and puzzle logic.
